Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Nenad Paunovic has been practicing small animal veterinary medicine since he graduated in 2000 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Belgrade, Serbia. After practicing at a small animal clinic in his hometown and having rotating internship training at the University of Small Animal Clinic in Berlin, Germany he decided to follow his parent’s footsteps and spent 2 years teaching science at the University of Novi Sad. Following his emigration to Canada in 2005, Dr. Paunovic passed the National Board Exams and had additional training for foreign graduates at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. Dr. Paunovic was practicing as a locum and full-time veterinarian in Greater Vancouver, BC for 2 years before he fulfilled his passion for emergency medicine by working the next 3 years as an emergency vet in clinics in Regina, SK, and Everett WA. Finally, In June 2011 Dr. Paunovic had the opportunity to take over Coquitlam Animal Hospital from Dr. Lance Lam who was retiring. Dr. Paunovic was very pleased that their medical approach to treating and caring for patients was very similar and could continue providing clients with a seamless transition.

Since then, the loyal support from clients has driven the need for more space and staff. This brought along another great opportunity to take over and renovate Austin Animal Hospital which has re-opened as Coquitlam Animal Hospital in December 2016. Dr. Paunovic lives in Coquitlam with his young family and their dog Reba. He enjoys the local parks and recreation activity centers.
